MooseWood Joins TerraCycle in Innovative Recycling Program
MooseWood Nature Center has joined TerraCycle in their Cookie Wrapper and Drink Pouch Brigades. Every year billions of drink pouches and hundreds of millions of non-recyclable cookie wrappers end up in landfills across America. TerraCycle has joined with Nabisco, Capri Sun, and Honest Kids to change that. MooseWood will be collecting these items and sending them in to be made into bags, school supplies, and other items that are then sold in stores nationwide. MooseWood receives a small monetary compensation for collecting the items that will help us continue to provide science education to area youth.
If you would like to help, please bring your cookie wrappers and drink pouches to MooseWood during our open hours. All brands are acceptable. Cookie wrappers, not the plastic dividers inside the wrappers, are what we need. Snack packs are acceptable along with full size cookie wrappers. Drink pouches need to be emptied and have straws removed prior to delivering them to MooseWood. We cannot accept drink boxes, only pouches.
The other way to help MooseWood with this program is to sign up your group at TerraCycle, collect and send in these items, and specify that your donations should go to MooseWood. We will then benefit without the extra time involved in preparing the items for recycling.
If you have any questions about this program, please contact Julie at julie@moosewood.org.
Thanks for your help in keeping our earth a cleaner place!
