Adopt-a-Critter Program

Our MooseWood critters are important. They help us educate and fascinate people of all ages and they receive very little in return. Not all of our friendly critters are having their needs fully met by us. Proper care for animals is a time consuming and costly job; however, we love and appreciate our critters and want to give them everything they need.

In an effort to create a fund solely for care of our many critters, the Adopt-a-Critter Program has been reinstated. These funds will be used for veterinary costs, habitat upgrades, maintenance, and food.

To Adopt-a-Critter, you can fill out a form, choose your favorite critter, and make a donation. Classes, clubs, scouts and teams can help provide care for an animal, learn about natural history and have a mascot! On-site visits to view your adopted animal are encouraged. Adoption levels cover one year and make great gifts:

Critter Champion ($500), Adopt three critters of your choice, optional photo with your critter, adoption certificate, and fact sheet about your critter.

Critter Guardian ($300), Adopt two critters of your choice, optional photo with your critter, adoption certificate, and fact sheet about your critter.

Critter Friend ($100), Adopt a critter of your choice, optional photo with your critter, adoption certificate, and fact sheet about your critter.

Jr. Adopt-a-Critter ($50) For children 12 and younger, Adopt a critter of your choice, your name and picture with your critter on the Critter Board, plus your own copy to take home, adoption certificate, and fact sheet about your critter.

Critters needing adoption include: Guinea pig, Frogs (Bull, Eastern Gray Tree, Green), Eastern American Toads, Snakes (Corn, Western Fox, Eastern Garter), Turtles (Painted, Red-eared Sliders, Common Snapping, Three-toed Box) and native fish (Bullhead, Darters, Dace).
